Kyle Robertson
Kyle Robertson is an up and coming race car driver from Ft. Myers, Florida. He found his love of racing at a very young age when he began racing motorcycles. He grew up racing and riding competitively until he was about 15 and he found cars. Kyle mowed lawns and saved up enough money to buy an old, beat up Nissan 300zx before he even had a drivers license. After some "spirited driving" he began to compete in some local autocross races. After some success in autocross, the urge for wheel to wheel competition found him and he entered the Skip Barber Three Day Racing School at Moroso Motorsports Park at age 17. During these three days Kyle quickly rose to the top of his class and started to impress people. The other students in the school came to the conclusion that he should pursue racing for a living, and his instructors were equally impressed. Kyle then entered the Skip Barber Advanced racing school and the Skip Barber Mazdaspeed challenge race at Homestead-Miami speedway. He qualified 6th out of 20 drivers, most of whom were running the entire series and had vast experience with the car and the circuit. During race 1, Kyle ran a neat and tidy race, uncharacteristically so for such a young driver, and was making a pass for 3rd position in the final hairpin when he was the victim of an error by one of his competitors and was bumped back to 15th. During this race, Kyle managed to set the course record for the class. He had never been on the circuit before that weekend.
Kyle has also competed in many other types of racing over his short career including drifting, autocross, karting, and motorcycle racing. In 2009 he also finished 6th in the ERS rally competition which was entered by nearly 60 drivers having never even driven a front wheel drive car, much less a rally stage.
2010 will be Kyles first opportunity to compete in a full season of racing. He is exploring possibilities in karting, SCCA and the Volkswagen Jetta TDI cup.
